Former soccer player Edwin van der Sar, known for his successful career with Ajax and Manchester United, is currently in intensive care due to bleeding around his brain, as confirmed by a statement from Ajax. The Dutch club stated that although Van der Sar's condition is stable, there are still concerns.
The news was shared on behalf of his wife, Annemarie, and both the Van der Sar family and Ajax expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received. Manchester United also sent their love and strength to Edwin through social media.
Van der Sar's illustrious career includes winning two Champions League titles with Ajax, four Premier League titles with Manchester United, and four Eredivisie titles with Ajax. Throughout his playing years, he was widely regarded as one of the world's top goalkeepers.
Following his retirement in 2011, Van der Sar transitioned to a role on Ajax's board and eventually became the chief executive in 2016. However, he resigned from his position in May after Ajax failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 14 years. Currently, Van der Sar will continue to receive intensive care as his condition is monitored.
