"Willingness for Dialogue: Dalai Lama Emphasizes Autonomy, not Independence, for Tibet"

The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, has expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue with Beijing, clarifying that he is not advocating for Tibet's independence from China. He stated that China has recognized the strength of the Tibetan people and desires contact with him to address the Tibetan issue, to which he responded positively. The Dalai Lama reiterated that he has always been open to discussions with China and had previously stated that Tibet does not seek complete independence but intends to remain a part of the People's Republic of China (PRC). He made these comments to the media at Kangra airport before departing for Delhi, where he plans to stay for two days before heading to Ladakh. On his recent birthday, the Dalai Lama released a video message emphasizing his commitment to benefitting others and dedicating his life to assisting sentient beings. It is worth noting that the Dalai Lama has previously advocated for autonomy for Tibet within the PRC, rather than seeking independence.
