A deadly storm in New York has claimed the life of a woman who was swept away in her house while trying to save her dog during severe flash flooding. The storm caused extensive damage, costing tens of millions of dollars and turning the state into a "war zone." The Hudson Valley region, which was at the center of the storm, received up to eight inches of rainfall, leading several cities and counties to declare a State of Emergency. The torrential rain resulted in collapsed bridges, impassable roads, and the destruction of people's belongings and local infrastructure. Search parties worked tirelessly throughout the night, with all available personnel involved in the mission. In New York City, a rare red weather warning was issued for Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx, prompting residents in basement-level dwellings to seek higher ground. The storm also caused significant damage to Storm King Highway/9W in Orange County, with a portion of the road being washed away. Vehicles were seen colliding due to the fast-moving water, and rescue teams were actively engaged in operations. County Executive Steve Neuhaus declared a State of Emergency in Orange County, while the town of Cornwall, located along the Hudson River, also declared a State of Emergency. Goat Trail 202 near Bear Mountain Bridge in the Hudson Valley was flooded as well.
